How it works
What is a CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a grassroots movement where customers become members of a farm, sharing both the challenges and successes of the growing season. Our CSA members play an important role in strengthening the local community by re-establishing the link between farmers, food, and the folks in between. Your commitment in the spring allows us to have the financial means to purchase seeds, soil amendments, and supplies at the beginning of the season. In return, you will receive a portion of our farm's seasonal harvest — a weekly food box full of delicious produce.
While we offer a more flexible approach than many traditional CSAs, we are not an online grocer. Signing up for a share is a commitment for the season. We don’t provide refunds for shares, though credit is available in certain situations. If you’re curious about what a share looks like, come and see us at one of our farmers market locations. If you are interested in scheduling a farm visit, email us at info@fromthesolefarm.com
What to expect in your vegetable share
For twenty-one weeks, our farm selects the freshest, most plentiful produce to fill a weekly bag. Typically, each share includes salad greens, cooking greens, herbs, and a variety of seasonal vegetables. The selection evolves with the season: in spring, expect lots of leafy greens and root vegetables like potatoes, beets, and carrots; summer brings a bounty of peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash; and fall is the peak season, with the widest variety of produce.
Veggie shares are available for weekly or bi-weekly pickup. In addition to your regular share, you’ll have the option to add extra salad greens. No matter when in the season, this will always be a mix of fresh, leafy greens.
We also provide some other farm-fresh products such as free-range organic egg. These are available for weekly, bi-weekly, or one-time pickups.
Payment options
Community Supported Agriculture helps farmers reduce up-front expenses by collecting membership fees before the growing season starts. Your early payments allow us to buy seeds, tools, and other essentials when we need them most, and we are grateful for your support. If paying the full share amount at once is a challenge, we offer a payment plan on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly schedule to fit your needs. Home delivery is available for customers in the Lee’s Summit area on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, we offer sliding scale veggie shares and hope to accept SNAP benefits soon.
There is no strict deadline for joining—if you sign up mid-season, we will adjust the cost accordingly. However, purchasing earlier in the season helps us plan better and cover our spring expenses. For more information on the sliding scale, reach us here at info@fromthesolefarm.com
Pickup and delivery
CSA shares and weekly market items are available for pickup at designated locations Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. If you are eligible for home delivery and have opted for that service, your share will be delivered to your residence. For those using a pickup location, you are responsible for collecting your share during the stated pickup hours. Unclaimed shares will be returned to the farm
Drop Site Guidelines
Bring Your Own Bags: Please bring large, sturdy reusable bags or containers for your share. We provide compostable bags that may not be strong enough for the journey home, and a la carte items are often unpackaged.
Timely Pickup: Your CSA box will need to be picked up within the pickup window of your designated location.
Alternatives for Missed Pickups: If you can’t make it, arrange for someone else to pick up your share. Be sure to explain the process and location details to your substitute.
Respect Drop Site: Please be considerate of the property and any additional rules set at the pickup site.
Pickup Issues: If something seems off or you can't find your share, contact us directly. We are easiest to reach by text, call, or email (contact information can be found at the footer of this site).
If you forget to pick up your share, it will be returned to the farm. If you're out of town, you have several options:
Friend Pickup: Arrange for a friend to collect your share.
Reschedule: Adjust your delivery date by contacting us at info@fromthesolefarm.com
We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines to ensure a smooth experience for everyone involved!
